Student Ministry"God is our Refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." - Psalm 46:1
Refuge Core Values
We are guided by the Word of God for both the content and direction of Refuge’s ministry. Our hope and prayer for our students is that they would go on from Refuge with a foundation built on God’s Word and that because of their time involved in Refuge they would gain wisdom in the study and real-life application of Scripture.
Refuge meets together on Sunday mornings at 9am and Wednesday nights from 6-8pm behind the Brick House (315 Hayter). We actively engage in worship through song, study of Scripture, and prayer as the main focus of each formal Refuge meeting, but it is also our hope that those involved in Refuge learn to worship God in all they do. We believe that even in the informal “hang-outs” with our youth God is worshiped through our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.
The Bible encourages us to “use whatever gift [we have] received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10) We feel that service helps give us ownership and inclusion into the church body. The Lord gives these gifts to not only bless us, but for us to bless others. We believe that students will find life and joy as they look outside of themselves to serve others.
Our desire in Refuge is to be a blessing and help to the families of Grace Bible Church by coming alongside them as they take on the primary role of shepherding their youth, but we also desire to bring our teens into a broader scope of family as those belonging to Christ. We want all involved in Refuge to feel a sense of belonging, security, and an understanding of their part in the bigger family of believers.
