Staff

Brent Bullard came to GBC in 2018 after having served for 14 years on the pastoral staff of his church in Missouri. He holds a Bachelor's in Speech Communication from the University of Central Missouri, a Master of Divinity, a Master of Theology, and a Doctorate of Ministry in Leadership from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been married to his wife, Sarah, for 13 years, and together, they have two sons, Uriah and Matthias. He enjoys coffee, just about any sport, and being with and pursuing people.

Jon Hayes serves as the Pastor of Kids and College at GBC. Jon graduated from SFA in 2017 and is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jon and his wife, Abbey, have two kids, Atticus and Elliot. He loves coffee, campfires, disk golf and connecting with parents to help them in their discipleship journey.

Bobby Austin serves as the Student Pastor at GBC. Bobby and his wife, Mary, are the parents of Emma, Lucy, and Reed. Bobby graduated from Baylor University and worked for Pine Cove Camps and taught at Nacogdoches High School before joining the GBC staff in 2012.

Roman Walley serves as the Equipping Pastor of GBC. Roman graduated from SFA in 2012 completed his Masters of Theology degree at Dallas Theological Seminary. Roman is married to Amy, who also graduated from SFA, and they have two sons, Roman IV and one on the way.

Brad Carr is our Pastor of Groups and Missions. He has served in ministry for over 14 years in 5 different states alongside his wife Tiffany. They have three boys Hudson, Noah, and Cooper. Brad loves being with people, hunting, and rooting for the Cowboys and Arkansas Razorbacks. He has a heart for the nations and helping people to discover and deploy their giftings.

Cynthia Knowles serves as the Director of Connection at GBC. The Knowles family have been members of GBC since 2000. Cynthia joined the staff in 2016. Cynthia and Drew have two adult children; Drew (married to Amber) and Hannah. They also have four wonderful grandchildren.

Sylvia Baker serves as our Office Manager. She is a proud Aggie and often the initial touchpoint for our office. Sylvia and her husband, Jerry (another Aggie), have been married for 20 years and are the proud parents of Mason and Cate.

Katy Mitchell serves as the Little Kids Director at GBC. She attended Grace as a college student and met her husband, Jonathan, at Crosspoint. The Mitchell family have been members of GBC since 2015. They have three kids - Luke, Parker, and Reese.

Josh Coe began attending GBC in 2013 and served as an intern in Kids' Ministry and as a small group leader before moving to Houston for graduate studies. He met his wife, Jacquelynn, while in Houston and after receiving his Masters in Music Composition, they moved back to Nacogdoches. Josh also completed his M.B.A while teaching music at SFA. He is currently an MDiv student at Reformed Theological Seminary.

Grace is led by a group of Elders. These are men who have demonstrated a spiritual maturity that is in keeping with the guidelines set for them in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Our Lead Pastor serves as an equal member of this board, which is charged with several responsibilities. As a group of men of whom our Senior Pastor is one among equals, they are charged with several responsibilities. Some of those are…

  • Making provision for sound biblical teaching
  • Providing spiritual leadership for the church
  • Praying for and with the people and watching over their spiritual and physical needs
  • Providing care and correction for members

Ralph Busby began attending Grace Bible Church with his wife, Theda, and sons, Brad and Todd in 1970. Ralph taught Sunday School classes, worked with AWANA, led small groups and served as an elder several years. Ralph retired from SFA after working 41 years, the last 26 as Director of Counseling and Career Services. Our family has been blessed to call GBC our home, and we have been privileged to love our church family and to be loved by them.

Jerry Baker started attending Grace Bible Church six years ago and he and his family became members shortly thereafter. He is married to Sylvia, and together they have two children, Mason and Cate. Jerry has served as a Small Group leader for the past three years, taught 6th grade in Children's Church for one year, and has served on the Worship and Safety Teams. He has been practicing in Nacogdoches since graduating from law school. In addition to representing various individuals and businesses in the community, Jerry presently serves as General Counsel for the Nacogdoches County Hospital District.

Ryan Nelson and his wife, Amy, have been attending GBC since 2008. They have 3 children: Ella, Ainsley, and Landen Earl. With the help of loving parents, Ryan came to a faith in Jesus at a young age at his hometown church. At GBC, Ryan served as a small group leader for several years, and now he and Amy serve as Refuge leaders. Ryan enjoys spending time outdoors, especially deer or duck hunting and crappie fishing. Since graduating from the University of Arkansas in 2001, Ryan spent 7 years on active duty and 5 years as a reserve Civil Engineer officer in the Air Force. Since 2008, he has worked as a Civil Engineer for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Scott LaGraff and his wife Kimberly moved to Nacogdoches in 2004 when Scott accepted a position on the music faculty at SFA. Shortly thereafter, they joined Grace Bible Church. Since joining, Scott has led multiple Sunday school classes, a small group, and has served on the elder board twice. He trusted Christ in 1981 after a neighborhood friend invited him to youth group, where he clearly heard the gospel for the first time. Scott & Kimberly have two sons — Cameron, a recent graduate of SFA’s accounting program and now working in Ohio, and Aidan, who is studying Music Education (violin) at SFA. Scott & Kimberly like taking walks and watching the UFC together.

Ryan Finnerud was raised in Nacogdoches and grew up attending church. He came to understand the Gospel and accepted Christ while attending an FCA summer camp in high school. Ryan met his wife, Kelly, in a college ministry while they attended SFA. The Finneruds came to GBC when Ryan joined the staff as Worship Pastor from 2006 to 2013 and returned as members in 2017. Ryan currently serves in the worship ministry, and Kelly teaches elementary Sunday school. They have also been small group leaders in the past. Ryan works as the Accounting Manager for Motorhomes of Texas. He is a CPA and has worked in public and private accounting for 13 years. Ryan and Kelly have four children - Aidan, Trace, Emmy, and Saraiya.
