“Maundy Thursday” is the name for the traditional celebration of the Thursday preceding Easter Sunday. “Maundy” likely derives from the Latin mandatum novum—the “new commandment” that Jesus gave to His disciples to love each other as He loved them (Jn 13:34). This is the night that Jesus invested the Passover meal with new meaning in light of His death the following day.
Our service will prepare us for the celebration of Easter morning as we solemnly reflect on the events leading up to and immediately following the crucifixion of Jesus.
